Well, I haven't been keeping up with the blog, as well as I have been wanting too! I'm going to try and keep things a bit more up-to-date.
So, what's happening in 2019 (or more to the point, what has happened)? So far, I have made two trips to Moose Jaw, to visit the Snowbirds. Both visits had one common theme. Rain. Gloomy skies saw the team off, as they left for Comox, and winds, clouds and rain, cut the home opener short. However, the team is currently on the road, and performing at 3 Wing Bagotville, this weekend. Make sure to check out the team's website, and see the team at a show, near you.
A couple of weeks after that, I was once again, in Cold Lake. This time, I was fortunate enough to cover the final week of training, for the 2019 CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team. Clouds and some smoke haze didn't provide the best lighting, but it was great to visit the team and get to know team members. The Hornet Demo is on the road, as well, performing alongside the Snowbirds in Bagotville. Photos from the Demo Hornet training, will soon be posted. Make sure to check out the Demo Hornet, during the summer!
So, what's not happening this year? Maple Flag. Normally, at this time, I'd be coming back from Cold Lake, with a weeks worth of photos. Sadly, the exercise is not being held, this year. I am hopeful that Maple Flag will be held next year.
As for the air show season, I will be attending one, possibly two shows. The main show is taking place in Moose Jaw. The Saskatchewan Air Show, makes its return to 15 Wing, this summer. The show promises to be a great one. I'm planning on covering arrivals of flying acts and static display aircraft, the show itself, and hopefully, departures. So, I should have plenty of content to share. Stay tuned for that. If you're in, or near Moose Jaw, check out the air show website for more information.
Finally, I am hoping to attend the Edmonton Air Show, in August. I have never attended this show, so I am excited to see what the show has to offer. Their flying and static lineup, so far, looks promising.
Racing season is underway at Wyant Group Raceway. I know I have been lax in putting up more racing content. I am going to work on bringing you more coverage of this season's action. If you're in Saskatoon, come out and see some entertaining racing!
So, that is about it for now. I'd also like to let you all know, my Twitter presence has been reduced. However, I am now on Instagram, so if you're there, give me a follow @kestrelaviationimages.
